Lake Annecy

Lake Annecy, 400 m above sea level, is the purest lake in Europe. It is located in the French Haute Savoie. In the city of Annecy (130 000 inhabitants) at the south shore, the water flows from the lake into canals running through the historic center, giving it the picturesque appearance of the "Venice of the Alps". The canals and bridges, old houses, ramparts, churches and numerous restaurants make this Old Town, or “Annecy-le-Vieux”, a very charming place and a must to visit. If you are looking for first-class gastronomic food, there are several Michelin star restaurants installed around the lake, in Annecy, Veyrier and Talloires. Annecy is only at 50 km from Geneva, 30 km from the Grand Bornand ski resort, and 100 km from Chamonix/Mont Blanc. (

Talloires and its abbey

The village of Talloires (1 700 inhabitants) is located on the north shore of the lake Annecy, at 13 km from Annecy itself, in a small bay of the lake. It is known for its beaches, marina, excursions with magnificent panoramas and its beautiful and well-known inns. Our seminar will be held in the 4 stars hotel-restaurant named the Abbey of Talloires. First erected as a chapel and in the seventeenth century transformed into an abbey by the Benedictine monks, it celebrated its millennium in 2018. A long list of celebrities have stayed there, enjoying the magic of this unique place for rest and relaxation. Among them, Louis Berthollet, Napoleon III, Mark Twain, Paul Cézanne, Lamartine, Churchill, Nixon, Jean Reno …
